What
Is Diverticulitis
What is
Diverticulitis.
Essentially it is little pockets that appear in the wall of the bowel.
Diverticuli or Diverticula as they are called are the little pockets.
When these pockets (Diverticula)
become
infected they turn into the painful
Diverticulitis.
I will not talk too much about it here, as there is a great reference
about what Diverticulitis is and what the Diverticula are, at the below link.

Causes
Diverticulitis
it seems is a
lifestyle disease. It appears the cause is a lack of
fiber
in the everyday diet. This lack of fiber causes the stool
(number
2's) to become harder and firmer. This requires more effort
to
push them out.
It is this extra effort and pressure on the inside of the bowel that is
believed to make the little pockets (Diverticula)
appear. Like anything if
you
constantly apply pressure, something will eventually give way.
In
the bowels case it looks like these little pockets (Diverticula)
appear, forming
bulges, in
the bowel wall.
Most people have them when they get older, stopping them getting bigger
and infected is the trick.
