Cures
Are there any cures
for
Diverticulitis?
Well this is an
interesting
question. Some drug companies say
no, however you wonder where their loyalty lies?
to sell
more drugs or to get you healthier so you do not have to purchase any
more drugs?
There certainly
are a lot of
things you can do without drugs that
will make your life much more bearable.
However first the
traditional
treatments.
Antibiotics,
these
are effective, although there is
some suggestion that they are loosing their effectiveness.
Liquid diet,
certainly will help you pass things through your
lower intestine, but not an enjoyable way to go.
Bed rest,
try to
avoid this unless it is a severe case, and
your doctor recommends it.
Muscle relaxant,
might work but
it is drugs again.
Pain reliever,
well
this is not treating the cause but making
the symptom bearable, pain reliever is a good idea to make
yourself comfortable, but it is not treating the cause.
Increased fiber in
your diet helps keep things moving down there.
Increase exercise,
a short
walk does wonders to help your lower
intestine move around.
Of course, you
should always
confirm things with a medical doctor before using any medication or
changing your diet and lifestyle is a radical way.
Control
Well, so how do we control Diverticulitis, and
Diverticulosis?
That is pretty much what we cover in the
newsletter sign up and join us.
One of the main causes for causing problems
according to a recent survey we did for the End
Diverticulitis Reference was STRESS. So we have
dedicated a whole page to it here Stress
and Diverticulitis.
There are other issues of course and diet is one
that we have already mentioned. you should be controlling you
diet from high fiber to low fiber depending on the current
circumstances. You should also consider changing your diet to
get rid of some trouble some foods. See the Link Foods this all discuss in more
depth in there.
In simplest terms the best ways to control
Diverticulitis is to watch your diet, and fiber intake, make sure you
keep moving and have some daily exercise (exercise helps digestion),
and control your stress levels.
Complications
1
in 5 People will
develop Diverticulitis complications and get VERY VERY sick, will you
be one of them?
There can be some very serious
Complications with
Diverticulitis.
Such as, blockages,
this will
cause constipation.
Tears, this is
serious as it
may cause infections
Bleeding, while
this is rare it
can occur, you will
notice blood in the toilet or on your stool. Usually happens when
there is a tear or infection.
Abscess, usually
occurs after a
tear, and is basically a swollen
area around the little sack that is full of yucky stuff. These
need to be cleaned up at once. If they get a tear in the Abscess
then stool can leak into the stomach cavity, and this can get very
serious.
Fistula, this is
when after an
infection two bits of the infected
tissue from different organs become stuck together.
Intestinal
Obstruction, pretty
obvious, it your bowel becomes
completely blocked, this is very serious and requires emergency
surgery. However you should not under go surgery lightly and if
it is only a partial blockage there are better ways.
