If you haven't already, read everything on this site and subscribe to the newsletter. Glenn has put together a great and voluminous amount of advice and information that I found very helpful when diagnosed this past summer. It seems to run in my family (the jury is still out on whether it is genetic) because my father "HAD" it but apparently it has gone away, first I'd heard of it going away completely but his last checkup and scoping showed no diverticuli.
I also bought a couple books, one on gastrointestinal subjects and one on nutrition so there is a lot of reading you'll need to do to learn more about it. Certainly many conversations with your doctors and remember, if you are researching online, take everything you read with a grain of salt and sceptically until you verify from other sources.
This forum doesn't seem to get a lot of action recently; myself, I read every newsletter Glenn sends out but don't visit this site too much anymore.
I changed my diet to a very strict diverticulosis themed diet, lots of fiber, only whole foods, nothing processed, etc...and slowly added back some favorites. I've lost a lot of weight too just by changing my diet. Exercise helps keep things moving but some foods will impact some people more than others. Corn is heavily advised against but I've actually had corn a few times already with no problems. So eat right, balanced diets, exercise, and you will become your neighborhood expert on fiber very quickly.
Hope some of this helps.
