Does anyone get alot of acid reflux having diverticulitis?

I haven't consulted with my gastro. dr yet IM just starting to take pepcid for the acid reflux.I will contact my dr.if after a few dosages this doesn't seem to work. It seems to get worse at night especially when I sleeping,the burning feeling in my throat an chest seems the wost to deal with. Can anyone out there help me with this issue. Thank you.

YES!!!!! I was worried I was starting to get a sore throat and my husband looked in there and said no, but I felt as though I just drank acid!! I have alot of acid reglux right now and I just had a flare up and am on antibiotics and on soft foods now, was on liquids for about 3 days. But yes I have noticed that I get this bad reflux during a flare up and my throat is raw. I am afraid to take any other medicine at this time, as I feel like I am a walking pill factory right now. But if you figure something out let me know!!!

to Patty and Tacy....... Goodness! could acid reflux really be caused by div? I was wondering because within the past 6 months or so have had terrible acid reflux! Its awful! I tried the prilosec OTC 14 day treatment but that gave me diarreah so bad I had to stop taking that! I believe once you have any stomach problems the rest of your stomach just follows suit and it all goes to pot....LOL...thank you for letting me reply!

First off I'd like to say hello and this is my first post on this site, as for the acid reflux...I had a terrible bout of it right before I was hospitalized with diverticulitis.Everything caused acid reflux even water!!At that point I could not keep any food or liquids down and I had a fever of 104 F before I consented to call my brother to drive me to the hospital.So I'd have to say yes,diverticulitis can cause acid reflux.

I have also noticed some acid reflux and my gastro doc offered MORE meds which I promptly passed on. I found a very simple solution. Eat more slowly and chew carefully!! No more acid reflux. On those rare occasions when I feel some discomfort starting, I pop a couple papaya enzymes and/or sip ice water and that seems to work for me.
