Postby Aussienan » Tue Jul 27, 2010 12:06 pm

Had a colonoscopy last week must say it's an experience I don't want to repeat..diagnosed with diverticular disease with occasional attacks of diverticulitis don't know what I'm doing just trying to find out the best thing to do to improve my quality of life so I at least don't get any worse looked at a few web sites conflicting views on the best diet treatment etc just want to talk to people that are going through it and hear what they have to say.

Hi Aussienan, I have been suffering with this thing for a number of years now, and I have come to the conclusion that diet is a bit of what suits one doesn't always suit another.........I try and stick to a high fibre diet, but still have been getting really bad attacks, so much so that surgery last time was the answer, this was great for 4 years and now I am back again. Today had a CT scan done tomorrow the surgeon again. I have read that when you have an attack to reduce fibre intake, then also read that liquid is better when having an attack. I really don't know what the answer is on this one, have asked the specialists and even they don't seem to come up with much on diet. We eat healthy fruit vegies high fibre etc, and still it reoccurs. Not really sure what the answer is on this one, a bit of trial and error never goes astray.
