help with 89 year old

Postby admin » Mon May 21, 2007 3:18 am

this came in to me and I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has got any good ideas about it. appreciate any feedback.

My husbands grandmother id 89 years old and suffers from diverticulitis and can not have surgery, I am trying to find a way to ease her pain ,she develops pain so badly we have had to take her to the hospital and nothing gets done, all the doctors do is give her Zanax, they think it is in her head. Is there anything I can suggest to her to try? I have tryed to get her to eat the high fiber diet, but she gets confused and continues to eat this when the pain and bloating occurs.

Well...every time I try to eat a high fibre diet, it triggers another episode, so I would be telling her to stick with low fibre. ;)

I read all the time where we are advised to eat high fibre, but I honestly cannot see any value in it. And I have yet to see actual proof of it (a high fibre diet) being good for us in any way shape or form. Quite the opposite in fact. http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/bran_and_cancer.html
