Surgery
We are working on a Surgery Page Stay Tuned.
We hope to bring you more details about Diverticulitis Surgery and Surgery Options.
What to expect, before and after.
There is one thing that I would like to share about surgery.
This is from very recent events that happened with my father. It
is not related to Diverticulitis, but it is about surgery and medical
options.
I would like to say that I think Doctors and Medical staff all do a
wonderful job they are very talented people who have the best
interests of their patients at heart. I have nothing against
surgery, or drug treatment options if they are the right thing to do.
Recently with my dad, he had a major medical scare, (at at this point
in time it is still on going). Saw specialists etc and was told
that surgery and radium were the way to go. We were left with the
impression that we had no choice, that the only options available to us
were surgery and radium. Hence my dad immediately under went
both.
However it wasn't until over a month later that we noticed things
didn't seem to have the desired effect. My dad has been slowly
going down hill ever since and we think we might be fighting a loosing
battle.
It is not to say this would not have happen anyway or even quicker if we had not taken the steps that we did.
But since all this trouble we have had more time to think, read and ask around.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. What we should have done was
taken immediate steps to make sure dad was OK. Then stopped taken
a breather had a read, asked around and then decided what to do next.
We might have not chosen surgery or radium, or we might
have.
What happened to us was we got such a shock, and the impression
(and i repeat impression) we were left with was that surgery and radium
were our only options.
The point I'm trying to make is that Medical Practitioners believe what
they are offering is the best course of action. They are not out to
trick anyone, and they have been very well educated to offer this
advice. However there are always two sides to every story, and
you should find out the other side. In our case we should have
asked our doctor more about chances of success, side effects of
drugs. We should have then asked around, made some inquires about
what other options we have, and then made a decision.
Sometimes when confronted with something that really hits you in the
face the immediate reaction is to get it fixed ASAP (this was our
case). But maybe you should take a step back, take a deep breath
ask around and then make the decision.
Surgery can benefit, and medical staff are excellent and will do their best to make things right.
Just make sure it is the right option, and don't rush in if you can help it.
Diverticulitis is important, it can kill, and should be taken
seriously. Just make sure you are doing the right thing for your
Diverticulitis case. Everyone is different and Diverticulitis
reacts differently with different people. Some can control it
quite successfully with diet, some go natural medicine or
alternative medicine and some go the surgery path. It doesn't
matter what you choose just do not rush in, ask around and make
sure it is the right option for your Diverticulitis.
Just remember there are always two sides to every story. Good and bad. Check them both out and ask questions.
